The South Baja culinary scene solidifies itself as a key driver for luxury tourism, attracting investments, and generating significant economic revenue in the region.

A Milestone for the Local Restaurant and Tourism Industry
From signature cuisine to innovative projects working directly with local producers, Baja California Sur once again proves its culinary might.
Its gastronomic scene has grown exponentially in recent years, becoming today one of the fundamental pillars for national and international tourism visiting the peninsula.
This commercial and cultural evolution was confirmed during the 2026 Michelin Guide Plaque Ceremony, recently held at the prestigious Manta restaurant inside The Cape, A Thompson Hotel.
The important business gathering brought together renowned chefs, restaurateurs, state authorities, and tourism industry representatives to recognize the 22 Baja California Sur establishments that make up the 2026 Selection.

New Stars and the Economic Impact of the Sector
One of the biggest and most profitable news of this edition was the incorporation of NEMI restaurant, located in La Paz. Led by chef Alejandro Villagómez, it received its first plaque, proving that gastronomic investment is expanding far beyond Los Cabos.
Among the establishments consolidating their commercial success is Cocina de Autor, which retains its prestigious Michelin Star, a distinction that guarantees a constant flow of high-purchasing-power tourism.
The impact on local business is undeniable. According to the Los Cabos Tourism Trust, 14% of visitors identify the culinary experience as their main reason for traveling to our state.
This specific tourist segment records an average daily expenditure of around 5,900 pesos per person, of which approximately 1,800 pesos are allocated exclusively to food and beverages, achieving an impressive 84% recommendation rate.

Sustainability and the South Baja Gastronomic Route
The Michelin Guide also rewarded responsible business practices. Acre and Flora’s Field Kitchen retained the Michelin Green Star, a recognition of sustainability and strong collaboration with local producers.
In the Bib Gourmand category (excellent quality at an accessible price), highly profitable projects like Metate, Cocina de Campo by Agricole, and once again Flora’s Field Kitchen stood out.
The list of recommended restaurants now functions as a true investment and tourism route across the state:
In Cabo San Lucas: Al Pairo at Solaz, Comal, Los Tres Gallos, Manta at The Cape, and Mezcal at Montage.
In San José del Cabo: Acre, Árbol, CarbónCabrón, LÍMO, Lumbre, Nao, Omakai, and Ruba’s Bakery.
In Todos Santos: Benno, DŪM, Oystera, and TENOCH by Paradero.
With these 22 awards in 2026, Baja California Sur makes it clear that its gastronomic identity is a highly successful business model, built with local ingredients and strategic investment that supports the entire region's economy.
