La Paz Airport Achieves Record Passenger Numbers in July

Historic Growth in Passenger Traffic
In a remarkable development for the tourism sector in Baja California Sur, the La Paz International Airport reported an 11 percent increase in passenger traffic in July compared to the same month in 2025. This surge resulted in the airport accommodating over 72,000 users, marking the highest monthly figure in the terminal's history. Maribel Collins Sánchez, the Secretary of Tourism and Economy, shared these insights based on data from the Pacific Airport Group (GAP).
"The results recorded in July reflect the dynamism that La Paz maintains as a tourist destination. Greater connectivity allows us to receive more visitors and generate benefits for families who depend directly and indirectly on this activity,"
she stated.
This growth is not just a number; it signifies the increasing attractiveness of La Paz as a travel destination, driven by enhanced air connectivity and a vibrant tourism industry. The airport's performance is a clear indicator of the region's recovery and expansion in the post-pandemic era.
Enhanced Connectivity and New Routes
The La Paz International Airport currently offers international connections to Los Angeles, alongside domestic routes to Ciudad Juárez and Monterrey. Notably, July saw the launch of direct flights to Los Mochis and Aguascalientes, further expanding travel options for residents and visitors alike. This increase in routes is a strategic move to bolster tourism and facilitate easier access to the beautiful landscapes and experiences that Baja California Sur has to offer.
Collins Sánchez emphasized the importance of these developments for the local economy, stating,
"This behavior reflects the dynamism of tourism activity and the advancement in air connectivity of the capital of Baja California Sur. These factors favor the arrival of visitors and generate opportunities for the commercial and service sectors."
The airport's management, led by Sarahí Castro Araiza, has been pivotal in ensuring efficient operations and high-quality service for passengers. Their efforts have not gone unnoticed, as the airport continues to adapt and grow in response to the increasing demand for air travel.
Future Prospects for La Paz as a Competitive Destination
Looking ahead, Collins Sánchez reiterated the commitment to ongoing collaboration with GAP, airlines, and the tourism sector to enhance connectivity options. The goal is to solidify La Paz's position as a competitive destination both nationally and internationally.
"We will continue to coordinate with GAP, airlines, and the tourism sector to expand connectivity alternatives and contribute to La Paz's consolidation as a competitive destination in national and international spheres,"
she affirmed.
This strategic focus on connectivity not only aims to attract more tourists but also to support local businesses and create jobs, fostering a sustainable economic environment. As La Paz continues to grow in popularity, the airport's record-breaking numbers serve as a testament to the region's potential and the hard work of those involved in its tourism and aviation sectors.
The record passenger numbers at La Paz International Airport are a clear sign of the region's vibrant tourism landscape and the effective strategies being implemented to enhance connectivity and attract visitors. As the airport continues to expand its services, the future looks bright for La Paz and its stakeholders.
