The municipal water utility is reevaluating strategies for water meter installation following community feedback.
Effective August 1, the municipality of La Paz temporarily suspended the 11-peso charge linked to the "Huella del Agua" (Water Footprint) program on monthly water bills.
Abimael Ibarra Abúndez, Director of Oomsapas La Paz, stated that the suspension aims to engage in direct dialogue with social organizations and residents to present and adjust the initiative.

The Oomsapas Governing Board will make the final decision on whether to resume or permanently cancel the program, depending on public consensus and regulatory frameworks.
Currently, the utility purchases and installs approximately 1,000 water meters every two months, focusing on areas with the highest infrastructure backlog.
Officials stressed that the primary goal of metering is detecting household leaks and optimizing usage to prevent waste, rather than increasing utility rates.
