CECyTE BCS Hosts Interactive Scientific Symposium in Puerto Adolfo López Mateos

Engaging Students in Scientific Exploration
The College of Scientific and Technological Studies of Baja California Sur (CECyTE BCS), in collaboration with the Northwest Biological Research Center (CIBNOR), recently held the Interactive Scientific Symposium titled "One Health and Microorganisms" at the EMSaD 10 in Puerto Adolfo López Mateos, located in the municipality of Comondú. This event aimed to engage students in scientific dissemination activities related to health, microorganisms, and research.
The symposium featured a keynote lecture entitled "One Health and Microorganisms," delivered by Dr. Carlos Angulo. His presentation emphasized the interconnectedness of human, animal, and environmental health, a concept that is increasingly recognized in scientific communities worldwide. The event also included the presentation of the book "Plants of BCS, Chemistry, Phytochemistry, and Antioxidant Potential" by Dr. Martha Reyes Becerril, further enriching the students' understanding of local biodiversity and its applications.
A Platform for Scientific Discovery
In addition to the lectures, the symposium showcased a science fair and a scientific infographic competition, allowing students to actively participate and showcase their creativity and knowledge. These activities provided a platform for students to explore scientific topics and engage with research work through hands-on experiences that complement their classroom learning.
Vladimir Torres Navarro, the General Director of CECyTE, highlighted the significance of such initiatives in broadening students' academic perspectives. He stated,
"We want students to have contact with science not only through classroom content but also through interactions with researchers and experiences that spark their interest. This way, they can expand their knowledge and discover new opportunities in scientific research for their future."
Fostering Future Scientists
The symposium's activities were designed to inspire students and cultivate a passion for science and research. By providing direct access to scientific discussions and practical applications, CECyTE BCS aims to nurture a new generation of scientists who are well-equipped to tackle future challenges.
The importance of these educational experiences cannot be overstated, as they help bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical application. Students who engage in such programs often find themselves more motivated and better prepared for advanced studies in science and technology.
As educational institutions continue to adapt to the evolving landscape of science and technology, events like the CECyTE BCS symposium play a crucial role in shaping the future of education in Baja California Sur. By fostering an environment where students can explore their interests in science, the college is not only enhancing their academic journey but also contributing to the broader scientific community.
Through initiatives like these, CECyTE BCS is paving the way for students to become informed and engaged citizens who appreciate the value of scientific inquiry and its impact on society. The symposium stands as a testament to the college's commitment to education and research, ensuring that students are not just passive recipients of knowledge but active participants in the scientific process.
