The commitment to contact sports and athletics in Los Cabos reaches a new level this March 2026. The Municipal Government has delivered the comprehensive rehabilitation works of the Bicentenario Stadium in Cabo San Lucas, a venue that for years has been the cradle of American football and flag football in the region. The works, supervised by the General Directorate of Public Works and INDEM, included the total replacement of the synthetic turf with latest-generation technology, the modernization of the LED lighting system for night games, and the rehabilitation of the stands and locker rooms, ensuring a dignified space for the hundreds of young people in local leagues.

From a sports safety and competitive standards perspective, the renovation of the playing surface is the most significant change. The new synthetic turf features an improved drainage system and superior impact absorption capacity, which drastically reduces the risk of joint injuries for players. This work not only benefits American football clubs but also paves the way for hosting national and international tournaments, consolidating Cabo San Lucas as a sports benchmark in Northwest Mexico during 2026.

In conclusion, clubs and stadium users are recommended to follow the usage regulations for the new synthetic turf (avoiding improper footwear or bringing in food) to ensure the long-term viability of the investment. Quality sports infrastructure is the best tool to steer youth away from risky behaviors. For the remainder of the semester, the Bicentenario Stadium is expected to be the official venue for the Flag Football league finals, taking advantage of its renewed professional lighting.
