As part of the commemorative activities for Women's Month, the Municipal Women's Institute (IMM) of La Paz has launched an open invitation for a free Shore Fishing Course for Women. This initiative seeks to break gender stereotypes in an activity traditionally dominated by men in Baja California Sur, offering participants the necessary technical and theoretical tools to master the art of fishing from the coast. The course focuses not only on recreation but also presents itself as an opportunity for autonomy and connection with the state's natural resources.

From a social empowerment and equity perspective, this program stands out for fostering self-confidence and creating support networks among women in La Paz. Learning includes everything from equipment assembly and lure selection to casting techniques and respecting minimum catch sizes. By training women in shore fishing, the IMM promotes an activity that can lead to family food security or even entrepreneurship within the sports tourism sector, strengthening the role of women in the peninsula's blue economy this 2026.

In conclusion, interested women are recommended to register as soon as possible, as spots are usually limited due to high demand for these recreational activities. The IMM continues to demonstrate that true empowerment involves the re-appropriation of local spaces and trades. For the remainder of March 2026, this group of new fisherwomen is expected to hold a practice session on the beaches near La Paz, consolidating a new community of Sudcalifornian athletes.
