A New Wave of Talent

The Instituto Sudcaliforniano del Deporte (INSUDE) has successfully concluded the first phase of the state surfing competition in San Juanico, setting the stage for the upcoming Orgullo Nacional 2027 (National Pride 2027) event. This competition not only evaluated the performance of seasoned athletes but also provided a platform for emerging talents to showcase their skills in a competitive environment.

During this phase, participants were assessed on their surfing abilities, which will play a crucial role in determining the official team that will represent Baja California Sur at the national level. The next phase is scheduled for January 2027 in Cerritos, La Paz, where the top competitors will be selected for the official state team.

"This event is essential for our athletes to gain competitive experience and prepare for the national stage,"

said a representative from INSUDE.

Safety First Amidst Weather Challenges

The event faced challenges due to weather conditions associated with Hurricane Polo, prompting organizers to implement preventive measures to ensure the safety of all participants. The competition area was closely monitored by the Fondo para la Protección de los Recursos Marinos de Baja California Sur (FONMAR), along with support from the National Guard and local security authorities.

In light of the unpredictable weather, INSUDE maintained direct communication with Civil Protection services, closely tracking meteorological conditions and making necessary adjustments to the event schedule. This proactive approach was vital in safeguarding the well-being of athletes, coaches, and delegations.

"We prioritized the safety of everyone involved, and we are grateful for the cooperation from local authorities and FONMAR,"

stated an INSUDE official.

Looking Ahead to National Representation

As the competition concluded, the focus now shifts to the next steps for the surfers of Baja California Sur. The athletes are eager to continue their journey towards forming a select team that will proudly represent the state at the Orgullo Nacional 2027.

This event not only highlights the talent present in the region but also fosters a sense of community and support for local sports. The enthusiasm surrounding surfing in Baja California Sur continues to grow, with many young athletes inspired to take part in future competitions.

"We are excited about the future of surfing in our state and look forward to seeing our athletes shine on the national stage,"

concluded the INSUDE representative.

With the successful completion of this first phase, the surfing community in Baja California Sur is poised for a promising future as they prepare for the challenges ahead in 2027.
