Economic Support for Families

In a significant move to assist families in Baja California Sur, the government has announced that 28,000 families will receive financial support of 2,500 pesos for school supplies, uniforms, and shoes. This initiative was confirmed by Yanssen Weichselbaum, the delegate of the Welfare Department in the state. The program aims to alleviate the financial burden on families as the new school year approaches.

"This support is designed for families who do not have other educational assistance, ensuring that those in need receive the help they require,"

said Weichselbaum.

The distribution of the support began in June and July, with cards from the Bank of Welfare being handed out during assemblies held at local schools. Families will be able to access these funds from August 3 to 14, according to a schedule organized by the alphabetical order of the tutor's last name.

Accessing the Funds

Families can utilize the financial support in stores that accept the Bank of Welfare card or withdraw cash at Bank of Welfare branches. This flexibility allows parents to choose how best to use the funds for their children's educational needs.

"We want to ensure that the support is accessible and can be used in a way that best meets the needs of each family,"

Weichselbaum added.

The initiative is particularly relevant in Baja California Sur, where many families are facing economic challenges. The support is not available to those already receiving educational scholarships, such as the Benito Juárez or Rita Cetina programs, ensuring that the aid targets those who need it most.

Impact on Local Communities

Weichselbaum estimated that approximately 14,000 of the beneficiaries are from the municipality of Los Cabos. This figure reflects the growing number of young households with school-aged children who have relocated to the area from other states. The influx of families has increased the demand for educational resources, making this support even more critical.

"Los Cabos has seen a significant increase in young families, and this support will help them settle in and ensure their children have the necessary tools for education,"

she stated.
