A Thriving Event in Loreto


The II Legislators Fishing Tournament wrapped up successfully in Loreto, Baja California Sur, attracting 35 boats and offering over 731 thousand pesos in prizes. This event was part of the grand finale of the Copa Loreto “Mar de Campeones” 2025-2026, showcasing the vibrant fishing culture of the region. The tournament not only highlighted the competitive spirit among participants but also emphasized the importance of fishing as a recreational and economic activity in Baja California Sur.


Future Prospects for the Tournament


Looking ahead, Mulegé has been announced as the host for the third edition of the Legislators Fishing Tournament. Preparations are set to begin in coordination with the municipal president, Edith Aguilar Villavicencio, who aims to surpass the prize pool achieved in this year's event. This commitment to growth reflects the tournament's increasing popularity and its potential to draw more participants and spectators in the future.


Celebrating Achievements and Social Impact


The tournament's top honors were claimed by the Escualo team, which caught a marlin weighing 290 pounds, earning a prize of 400 thousand pesos. In the Dorado category, The Blessed team took first place with a catch of 31 pounds, securing a total of 73 thousand 950 pesos. Meanwhile, the Nemenchaas team won in the Free category with a 62.5-pound tuna, receiving 17 thousand 850 pesos.

said Deputy Sergio Guluarte Ceseña, expressing gratitude for the collaborative efforts that made the tournament possible.


Beyond promoting sport fishing and enhancing tourism, the tournament also served a significant social purpose. Proceeds from the event will be donated to OncoLoreto and the Municipal DIF System of Loreto, highlighting the tournament's commitment to community welfare.


Guluarte Ceseña acknowledged the participation of fishermen and fisherwomen, along with families, visitors, service providers, and participants in the gastronomic showcase that contributed to this family-friendly and socially responsible celebration.


With the success of this second edition, the Legislators Fishing Tournament continues to strengthen its presence in Baja California Sur, reaffirming its dedication to promoting sport fishing, tourism, and social causes. The event not only fosters a sense of community but also encourages sustainable practices in the region's fishing industry.
