Significant Discounts Approved for Early Payment of Property Taxes in La Paz

Introduction to the New Tax Program

In a recent decision made during the 26th Ordinary Session of the H. XVIII City Council of La Paz, significant discounts on property tax payments for the fiscal year 2027 have been approved. This initiative aims to provide financial relief to residents and encourage timely payments. The program will be in effect from October 9 until March 31, 2024, offering a structured discount schedule that varies by month.

Discount Structure and Benefits

The approved discounts will be applied in a tiered manner throughout the designated period. For those who pay their property taxes early in October, a substantial discount of 30% will be available, plus an additional 5% for those who pay within the same month. The discount percentages will then decrease incrementally, with 30% available in November, 25% in December, 20% in January, 15% in February, and 10% in March.

"This program is designed to support our community by making it easier for residents to fulfill their tax obligations while also benefiting from significant savings,"

said a city council representative.

For taxpayers looking to regularize their accounts from previous years, specifically for the 2026 tax year and earlier, a 20% discount will be available from October 9 to November 30, followed by a 15% discount throughout December. Additionally, any penalties or surcharges incurred from the 2026 tax year and prior will see a 50% reduction for the remainder of the year.

Eligibility and Limitations

It is important to note that these discounts are applicable only for single payment transactions. The program will also extend to taxpayers who have entered into installment payment agreements, provided they settle their total outstanding balance within the specified terms and percentages.

"We encourage all residents to take advantage of these discounts and to stay informed about the program through official city channels,"

the representative added.

However, certain groups will not be eligible for these discounts, including those already receiving special discounts such as senior citizens, retirees, pensioners, and individuals with disabilities. Furthermore, any tax credits or debts settled prior to the program's initiation will not be eligible for refunds, compensations, or credits.

How to Participate

Residents are urged to utilize the available resources to ensure they can benefit from these discounts. Payments can be made at any of the municipal collection offices or through digital platforms, including the La Paz App, the urban viewer portal at visorurbano.lapaz.gob.mx, and the official city website lapaz.gob.mx. Kiosks providing services will also be available for convenience.
