Significant Advances in Social Development in Baja California Sur

Overview of the Session
The Secretary of Labor, Welfare, and Social Development, Omar Antonio Zavala Agúndez, recently chaired the Ordinary Session of the Sectoral Subcommittee on Social Development and Energy. This important meeting focused on presenting and validating the key results in social development for the period of 2025-2026. The session highlighted the ongoing commitment of the government to improve the quality of life for residents in Baja California Sur.
During the meeting, Juan Enrique Ramos Ríos, the Undersecretary of Welfare, Social Development, and Human Resources, provided an update on various initiatives aimed at enhancing citizen participation, electrification, basic infrastructure, and community strengthening. Notably, the formation of committees and the verification of requests across 41 localities in all five municipalities were discussed.
Key Achievements in Social Development
Among the significant actions taken, the installation of 185 improved photovoltaic systems stands out, representing an investment of 14.9 million pesos, which benefits over 740 residents. This initiative not only promotes renewable energy but also aims to reduce energy costs for families in the region.
Additionally, agreements were formalized for 11.9 million pesos to fund potable water projects in La Paz and Mulegé, as well as for 23.4 million pesos allocated for two paving projects in La Paz. These investments are crucial for enhancing infrastructure and ensuring access to essential services for the community.

stated Zavala Agúndez.
Community Engagement and Future Plans
The session also highlighted actions aimed at recovering public spaces, conducting community outreach, and providing training and activities designed to boost the local economy. One notable initiative was a bazaar featuring women entrepreneurs from various neighborhoods in La Paz, showcasing their products and fostering economic empowerment.
Zavala Agúndez reaffirmed the government's commitment to working collaboratively to ensure that social policies translate into tangible results and direct benefits for the communities of Baja California Sur. The focus on community engagement and sustainable development is expected to create a positive impact on the lives of residents, fostering a sense of ownership and responsibility towards their local environment.
