A Call to Action for Young Environmentalists

The Secretariat of Urban Planning, Infrastructure, Mobility, Environment, and Natural Resources (SEPUIMM) is calling on public and private primary schools in La Paz to participate in the fourth edition of the Environmental Education Rally “Agents of Change.” This exciting event is scheduled for Wednesday, October 28, from 8:00 AM to 1:00 PM at the Municipal Sports Center “El Piojillo.”

Selma Rodríguez Orozco, the Director of Sustainability Linkage at SEPUIMM, announced that each school can register a team consisting of 10 students from the fifth or sixth grade. Interested schools are encouraged to send their details to the email address dvinculacions@gmail.com.

“This event aims to connect children with knowledge and care for the natural environment through playful and educational dynamics,” Rodríguez Orozco explained. “We want them to identify concrete actions that contribute to the environmental well-being of their community.”

Collaborative Efforts for a Sustainable Future

The rally will feature collaboration from various organizations, including the Secretariat of Public Education (SEP), the State Water Commission (CEA), the National Water Commission (CONAGUA), the National Forestry Commission (CONAFOR), the National Commission of Natural Protected Areas (CONANP), and the La Paz City Council. This partnership underscores the importance of a collective approach to environmental education and awareness.

Rodríguez Orozco emphasized that the initiative also serves as an opportunity to recognize the enthusiasm and creativity of children, alongside the support of their teachers in fostering environmental education.

“We are proud to see the participation of the educational sector in previous editions, where over 300 children have taken part in this enriching experience,” she stated.

Engaging the Next Generation

The Environmental Education Rally is not just an event; it is a platform for children to engage actively with their surroundings and learn about sustainability in a fun and interactive way. By participating, students will gain insights into environmental issues and the importance of conservation, which are crucial in today’s world.

This year’s rally promises to be an engaging experience, filled with activities that will challenge students to think critically about their role in protecting the environment. The event aims to inspire a new generation of environmental stewards who are equipped with the knowledge and skills to make a positive impact in their communities.

“We believe that by educating our youth, we are investing in a sustainable future,” Rodríguez Orozco concluded.

As the date approaches, excitement builds among schools in La Paz, eager to participate in this meaningful event that not only promotes environmental awareness but also fosters teamwork and community spirit among young learners.
