Description

Significant Progress in Infrastructure Development

The paving of the road that will connect the communities of Bahía Asunción and Punta Prieta in the municipality of Mulegé is currently 40% complete. During a recent supervision tour, Carolina Armenta Cervantes, the head of the Secretariat of Urban Planning, Infrastructure, Mobility, Environment, and Natural Resources (SEPUIMM), confirmed the progress of the ongoing works. This project is crucial for improving the connectivity and safety of these coastal communities.

During the inspection, the team reviewed the formation of earthworks, the laying of hydraulic base, and the construction of protective works, including a hydraulic concrete ford. These efforts are aimed at enhancing safety, durability, and vehicular transit on this vital route.

"This project will significantly improve the connectivity of the northern Pacific communities, facilitating the transport of supplies, goods, and emergency services," stated Armenta Cervantes. "Additionally, it will contribute to the economic development of the coastal and fishing activities in the region."

Addressing Historical Connectivity Gaps

Armenta Cervantes emphasized that this infrastructure project addresses a historical backlog in connectivity, providing better transportation conditions for families and workers who rely on this road for their daily activities. The improvements are expected to have a lasting impact on the quality of life for residents in the area.

"The works will provide better transportation conditions for families and workers who use this route for their daily activities,"

she added. This statement highlights the importance of the road not only for commerce but also for the everyday lives of the local population.

The project is a collaborative effort between the State Government and the Government of Mexico, through the Secretariat of Infrastructure, Communications, and Transport (SICT). The goal is to achieve 10.5 kilometers of paving by the end of this year, with 3.5 kilometers of that stretch, from kilometer 83+450 to kilometer 86+950, being managed by SEPUIMM.

Investment and Future Prospects

The total investment for this segment of the project amounts to 50 million pesos. This financial commitment underscores the importance of infrastructure development in enhancing the region's connectivity and economic prospects. The completion of this road is anticipated to not only improve safety but also stimulate local economies by facilitating trade and access to services.

"This investment is crucial for the development of our communities, and we are committed to seeing this project through to completion,"

concluded Armenta Cervantes. The optimism surrounding this project reflects a broader vision for sustainable development in Baja California Sur, where improved infrastructure can lead to enhanced quality of life and economic opportunities for all residents.

As the project continues to progress, the communities of Bahía Asunción and Punta Prieta eagerly await the benefits that this vital road will bring, paving the way for a brighter future.
