Resumption of Activities

Following the end of the holiday period, the Municipal Sports Centers in La Paz have officially resumed their regular activities, providing a wide array of sports, recreational, and cultural programs for children, youth, and adults. Guillermo Ortalejo Hernández, the Municipal Director of Sports, announced the reopening, emphasizing the importance of these centers in fostering community engagement and physical activity.

"We are excited to bring back our sports programs, which are vital for the health and well-being of our community,"

said Ortalejo Hernández.

The reopening comes as part of a broader municipal strategy aimed at addressing community needs and enhancing spaces designated for sports and family interaction. Significant renovations have been made to facilities such as the Guillermo “Memo” Ayón, La Pitahaya, and “El Piojillo” Sports Centers, ensuring they are equipped to serve the public effectively.

Diverse Offerings for All Ages

At the La Pitahaya Sports Center, a variety of classes are available. Morning sessions include soccer from 8:00 AM to 9:30 AM, while afternoon activities feature painting from 3:30 PM to 5:30 PM and Zumba from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM. This diverse schedule aims to cater to different interests and age groups, promoting a healthy lifestyle through engaging activities.

"We want to ensure that everyone finds something they enjoy, whether it's sports or arts,"

Ortalejo Hernández added.

Meanwhile, the Guillermo “Memo” Ayón Sports Center offers swimming classes in the mornings, with afternoon sessions dedicated to swimming, basketball, volleyball, soccer, flag football, taekwondo, and chess. This variety not only encourages physical fitness but also helps in developing teamwork and strategic thinking skills among participants.

Opportunities for Community Engagement

The “El Piojillo” Sports Center features morning physical activation sessions, while afternoon classes include karate, robotics, baseball, tennis, skateboarding, basketball, and soccer. Additionally, it houses a children's library, promoting literacy and learning alongside physical activities.

Ortalejo Hernández emphasized that there are still available spots in various sports, recreational, and cultural disciplines offered by the municipal administration, with affordable costs designed to accommodate families. He encourages interested individuals to visit their preferred Municipal Sports Center to learn about available activities and register.

"We invite everyone to come and explore the opportunities we have for them. Our programs are designed to be inclusive and accessible for all,"

he stated.

The Municipal Sports Centers of La Paz are not just places for physical activity; they are community hubs that foster social interaction and personal development. As these centers continue to evolve and adapt to the needs of the community, they play a crucial role in promoting a healthier, more active lifestyle among residents of all ages.
