Promoting Cardiovascular Health Through Swimming

A National Initiative for Health
In a significant move to promote physical activity and cardiovascular health, the Instituto Sudcaliforniano del Deporte (INSUDE) has announced its participation in the national initiative “Nado por mi Corazón 2026.” Running from September 7 to October 11, this initiative marks its tenth consecutive year, aiming to raise awareness about the importance of self-care through swimming. The program encourages regular medical check-ups and early detection of potential cardiovascular issues.
The initiative is open to various groups in Baja California Sur, including pools, clubs, teams, swimming schools, and individual swimmers. Participants can join for free, contributing to this national strategy aimed at fostering healthy habits among the community.
Participation and Categories
According to the guidelines, individuals aged 12 and older can participate in the open category, while children aged 8 to 11 can join the children's category. This inclusive approach ensures that a wide range of participants can engage in this healthy activity.
As part of the participation process, swimmers must undergo a health assessment protocol, which includes evaluating health-related parameters before swimming a kilometer in any style. Each participating pool will set specific schedules and sessions for the event, making it accessible for all.
“The initiative aims to generate awareness about the importance of self-care through swimming.”
The registration for this event will remain open until October 2, 2026. Interested participants can sign up directly at the pools, clubs, or swimming schools involved in the initiative. This hands-on approach is designed to encourage community involvement and foster a culture of health and wellness.
The Importance of Cardiovascular Health
Cardiovascular diseases remain one of the leading health concerns globally, making initiatives like “Nado por mi Corazón” crucial for public health. By promoting swimming as a form of exercise, the program not only encourages physical fitness but also highlights the need for regular health screenings.
“This initiative is essential for promoting healthy habits and ensuring early detection of cardiovascular conditions.”
Swimming is an excellent low-impact exercise that can be enjoyed by people of all ages and fitness levels. It helps improve cardiovascular endurance, builds muscle strength, and enhances flexibility. Furthermore, participating in group activities like this can foster a sense of community and support among participants.
As the event approaches, INSUDE is committed to ensuring that all participants are well-informed and prepared for the activities. This initiative not only aims to improve individual health but also seeks to create a healthier community overall.
“We are excited to see the community come together for this important cause.”
With the launch of “Nado por mi Corazón 2026,” Baja California Sur is set to make waves in promoting a healthier lifestyle through swimming, encouraging residents to take charge of their cardiovascular health while enjoying the benefits of physical activity.
