A Major Investment in Sports Infrastructure
In a significant move to enhance community sports facilities, the Secretary of Urban Planning, Infrastructure, Mobility, Environment, and Natural Resources (SEPUIMM) has completed the comprehensive rehabilitation of the soccer field in San Ignacio, Mulegé. This project, which required an investment of 8 million pesos, aims to provide better conditions for sports practice and family gatherings in the area.
The inauguration of the new facilities was led by Carolina Armenta Cervantes, the head of SEPUIMM, representing Governor Víctor Manuel Castro Cosío. She was joined by Mulegé's mayor, Edith Aguilar Villavicencio, and Deputy Teresita de Jesús Valentín Vázquez. Armenta emphasized the importance of the project, stating that it addresses a critical demand from the community and supports sports activities, especially among children and youth.
"This project meets a priority need for the community and promotes sports practice, particularly among girls, boys, and young people."
Project Details and Phases
The renovation of the soccer field was executed in two phases. The first phase involved preparing the platform and earthworks, laying down 6,161 square meters of synthetic grass on the soccer field, rehabilitating the goalposts, installing drainage systems, and erecting 320 linear meters of perimeter fencing with cyclone mesh.
The second phase included the construction of a stone retaining wall, a restroom module, and pathways to facilitate access to the facilities. Additionally, a comprehensive lighting system was installed, allowing for extended use of the field during nighttime hours.
"With this project, San Ignacio now has renewed and functional sports infrastructure for physical activity, social interaction, and the healthy development of children and youth,"
Armenta Cervantes added.
Community Impact and Future Prospects
The completion of the soccer field renovation represents more than just an upgrade in physical infrastructure; it symbolizes a commitment to fostering community spirit and encouraging healthy lifestyles among the younger population. The new facilities are expected to host various sporting events and activities, bringing together families and promoting a sense of unity.
Local residents have expressed their excitement about the new soccer field, which they believe will serve as a hub for youth engagement and community events. The investment in sports infrastructure is seen as a vital step towards enhancing the quality of life in San Ignacio and encouraging active participation in sports.
"This is a great opportunity for our youth to engage in sports and stay active. We are grateful for this investment in our community,"
said a local resident during the inauguration.
As the community looks forward to utilizing the new soccer field, the SEPUIMM's initiative stands as a model for future projects aimed at improving public spaces and promoting sports in Baja California Sur. The successful completion of this project not only enhances the local landscape but also reinforces the importance of investing in the well-being of future generations.
