New Sanitation Project Enhances Quality of Life for Families in La Paz

Addressing Long-Standing Needs

The municipality of La Paz, through the Municipal Operator of Potable Water, Sewage, and Sanitation (OOMSAPAS), has successfully addressed a critical issue for the residents of Ampliación La Pitahaya. For years, these families have been requesting a proper sewage system, and now, their needs have finally been met. More than 50 families now have access to this essential service, marking a significant improvement in their living conditions.

The completion of this sanitation project involved the installation of 1,728 linear meters of sewage pipe, along with the construction of 19 inspection wells and 51 residential connections. According to Abimael Ibarra Abúndez, the general director of OOMSAPAS La Paz, this initiative is a vital step towards enhancing public health and sanitation in the area.

"This project addresses a priority need by incorporating sanitary infrastructure in a zone that previously lacked it. Now, the benefiting families can adequately dispose of wastewater and enjoy better sanitation and quality of life,"

Ibarra Abúndez stated.

Investment in Community Health

The project required an investment of 4 million pesos, a significant commitment from the local government to improve the living standards of its residents. The newly installed infrastructure will not only facilitate the connection of over 50 homes to the public sewage network but also ensure that the community can manage wastewater effectively.

Ibarra Abúndez emphasized the importance of this project beyond just the numbers and technical specifications. He highlighted that the real value lies in resolving a long-standing deficiency faced by the families of Ampliación La Pitahaya.
