Mobile Mammography Unit

Introduction of Mobile Services

Starting this Monday, October 5, the Government of Baja California Sur is launching a new initiative to provide free cancer screenings for breast and cervical cancer. This program will utilize a mobile mammography unit and a cytology unit to reach women in various neighborhoods and communities in La Paz. The initiative aims to promote early detection, which is crucial for effective treatment and better health outcomes.

The mobile services will kick off at 8:30 AM at the Community Development Center in the Solidaridad neighborhood. Throughout the week, the units will also visit the La Pasión and Agua Escondida neighborhoods, as well as the El Carrizal ejido. This outreach is part of a broader effort to make essential health services more accessible to women in the region.

Target Audience and Services Offered

The program is specifically aimed at women aged 25 and older, who will be able to receive free screenings as the mobile units arrive at their designated locations. The dates and locations for these health services can be found on the official health department website at www.ssbcs.gob.mx.

Ana Luisa Guluarte Castro, the Secretary of Health, emphasized the importance of these screenings, stating that mammograms and cytologies can help identify potential abnormalities in tissues and cells. In cases where results are irregular, further studies will be necessary to confirm or rule out a diagnosis, and if needed, initiate appropriate treatment.
