New Initiatives to Boost Irrigation in Comondú

Government Commitment to Agriculture

In a significant move to support local farmers, the Government of Baja California Sur, through the Secretary of Fishing, Aquaculture, and Agricultural Development (SEPADA), in collaboration with the National Water Commission (CONAGUA), has delivered 16 authorizations for irrigation units. This initiative is part of the State Program for Hydro-Agricultural Infrastructure, aimed at improving water utilization in agricultural activities.

The head of SEPADA, José Alfredo Bermúdez Beltrán, emphasized the importance of this program, stating that it focuses on enhancing water efficiency through various actions, including the rehabilitation of pumping equipment, the modernization of irrigation systems, and the drilling of wells.

"This program aims to improve the use of water in agricultural activities through actions such as the rehabilitation of pumping equipment, the modernization of irrigation systems, and the drilling of wells."

Enhancing Water Efficiency

This initiative marks the first time such a strategy has been implemented in the region during this administration, reflecting a commitment to promote a more efficient use of water resources. Bermúdez Beltrán highlighted the financial commitment made by the government, revealing that nearly 128.23 million pesos have been allocated to similar projects over the past five years. "This strategy was implemented for the first time in the entity during this government, with the purpose of promoting a more efficient use of water resources and contributing to its availability for future generations in the Santo Domingo Valley."
