Supporting Local Artists

The Instituto Sudcaliforniano de Cultura (ISC) has recently announced two significant calls aimed at enhancing the artistic landscape in Baja California Sur. These initiatives are designed to support creators, performers, and groups, providing them with the necessary resources to showcase their talents both within the state and beyond. The two programs, titled “La Cultura nos Une en los Municipios” and “Arte Viajero,” focus on promoting cultural activities and facilitating the participation of local artists in national and international events.

Details of the Initiatives

The first initiative, “La Cultura nos Une en los Municipios,” is set to feature performances of scenic and musical arts across all five municipalities of Baja California Sur. The ISC plans to award a minimum of six grants ranging from 20,000 to 40,000 pesos for selected projects. Each chosen proposal must conduct at least three live performances between October 2026 and March 2027. This initiative aims to foster community engagement and celebrate the diverse artistic expressions found throughout the region.

"We believe that culture is a powerful tool for unity and expression, and through this initiative, we aim to bring art closer to the people,"

stated an ISC representative.

On the other hand, “Arte Viajero: Formación y Proyección fuera de BCS” focuses on encouraging the involvement of Sudcalifornian artists in training and projection activities at both national and international levels. This program will provide a minimum of five grants, each ranging from 10,000 to 30,000 pesos, to cover expenses such as accommodation, food, travel, workshops, or training sessions. This initiative is particularly crucial for artists seeking to expand their horizons and gain exposure outside their home state.

"This program is an opportunity for our artists to grow and connect with broader audiences, which is essential for their development,"

the ISC representative added.

Eligibility and Application Process

To participate in these programs, applicants must be at least 18 years old and either born in Baja California Sur or have uninterrupted residency in the state for a minimum of three years. Foreign applicants must demonstrate a legal stay of at least five years in the region and provide the required documentation as outlined in the call for applications. This inclusive approach aims to ensure that a diverse range of talents can benefit from the support offered by the ISC.

The registration period for these initiatives will remain open until October 7, 2026, at 3:00 PM. Results will be published on October 16, 2026, allowing artists ample time to prepare their proposals. For those interested in applying, the ISC encourages them to visit their official website for complete details on the application process and requirements.

"We are excited to see the creativity and passion that our artists will bring to these projects, and we look forward to supporting them in their artistic journeys,"

concluded the ISC representative.

These initiatives not only highlight the ISC's commitment to fostering cultural development in Baja California Sur but also serve as a reminder of the importance of supporting local talent in a rapidly evolving artistic landscape.
