New Initiative Launched to Combat Political Violence Against Women in Baja California Sur

A Collaborative Effort for Change

In a significant move to address the issue of political violence against women, the government of Baja California Sur has launched the “Mesa Naranja” initiative. This program, developed in collaboration with the Guadalajara Regional Chamber of the Electoral Tribunal of the Federal Judiciary (TEPJF), aims to implement preventive measures and provide support for women affected by gender-based political violence. The initiative was officially inaugurated during a ceremony held at the Music School Auditorium, where Governor Víctor Manuel Castro Cosío emphasized the importance of fostering a society rooted in equality and respect.

"This initiative represents a step forward towards a society where equality, respect, and peaceful coexistence prevail,"

said Castro Cosío during the event.

The establishment of the “Mesa Naranja” is part of a broader strategy to enhance women's participation in public life and ensure their safety in political environments. The governor called upon all institutions and authorities to take responsibility in their respective roles to create conditions that promote women's involvement in governance and decision-making processes.

Rebeca Barrera Amador, the president magistrate of the Guadalajara Regional Chamber of the TEPJF, highlighted the significance of the “Mesa Naranja” as a platform for coordinating efforts among various institutions. "The 'Mesa Naranja' will allow us to coordinate efforts and create pathways for addressing political violence against women based on gender,"

Barrera Amador stated.
