New Initiative Launched in Los Cabos to Combat Women's Cancer

State Strategy for Women's Health
In a significant move to enhance women's health services, the municipality of Los Cabos has officially backed the State Strategy for the Prevention, Detection, and Comprehensive Care of Women's Cancer. This initiative was launched by the Baja California Sur Secretary of Health at the IMSS-BIENESTAR General Hospital in Cabo San Lucas. José Manuel Larumbe Pineda, the First Councilor acting as Municipal President by Law, emphasized the importance of collaboration between state and municipal governments to improve access to health services for local families.
"We are committed to ensuring that our women have access to the necessary health services to detect and treat cancer early,"
said Larumbe Pineda during the launch event.
The strategy includes the introduction of a mobile mammography unit, colposcopy services, and the establishment of the Medical Urgency Regulatory Center (CRUM) to enhance ambulance coordination within the municipality. This comprehensive approach aims to address the pressing need for early detection and treatment of cancer among women in the region.
Investment in Health Infrastructure
The state government has allocated a substantial investment of 29,497,991 pesos to bolster health services in Los Cabos. This funding will enhance equipment, technology, and overall care for women, ensuring that they receive timely and effective medical attention. The initiative is designed to provide universal coverage, making essential health services accessible to all women in the area.
"This investment will allow us to expand access to mammograms, achieve timely diagnoses, and bring comprehensive care closer to women and their families,"
stated Ana Luisa Guluarte Castro, Secretary of Health and General Director of the Institute of Health Services of B.C.S.
The mobile units will not only operate from the General Hospital but will also travel to various communities, ensuring that women across the municipality can benefit from these crucial health services. This proactive approach is expected to significantly increase the number of women receiving necessary screenings and treatments.
Community Engagement and Awareness
Larumbe Pineda invited women from the municipality to take advantage of the services offered at the General Hospital in Cabo San Lucas. He encouraged community members to spread the word about the availability of these health resources, emphasizing the importance of early detection in combating cancer effectively.
"I urge all women to come to the hospital for these essential studies. We are bringing these services closer to you, and it is vital to take advantage of them,"
he added.
The collaboration between local authorities and health officials marks a pivotal moment in the fight against women's cancer in Baja California Sur. By prioritizing health initiatives and investing in the necessary infrastructure, Los Cabos is setting a precedent for other municipalities in the region to follow.
As the program unfolds, the local government remains committed to monitoring its impact and ensuring that the community's health needs are met. The launch of this strategy is not just a step forward in healthcare but a promise to the women of Los Cabos that their health and well-being are a top priority.
