New Generation of Police Recruits Trained in Baja California Sur

Training for a Safer Community
The State Academy of Public Security (AESP) is currently in the process of training a new generation of police officers in Baja California Sur. According to the director of the academy, Antonio Campos Navarrete, this initiative aims to enhance the capabilities of local law enforcement agencies by incorporating 173 new recruits into the State Preventive Police (PEP), Investigative Police, and municipal police forces across the five municipalities of the state.
"It is essential to have professional and committed personnel to provide responsible attention to the citizens."
The training program is designed to equip these recruits with specialized knowledge tailored to their future roles. For those entering the Community Policing sector, the curriculum includes both theoretical and practical training in areas such as police defense, use of force, citizen safety, weapon handling, and first aid. This comprehensive approach ensures that recruits are well-prepared for the challenges they will face on the job.
Specialized Training Modules
The training for the Investigative Police is equally rigorous, focusing on victim assistance, strategic criminal prosecution, police action, and surveillance techniques. Recruits will also receive instruction on firearms and shooting skills, as well as the proper procedures for receiving complaints from the public.
The entire training program spans a total of one thousand hours, which is equivalent to four months of intensive instruction. This training is conducted by certified instructors and educators recognized by the National Public Security System Executive Secretariat, alongside specialists in various fields. This ensures that the recruits receive a high standard of education and practical skills necessary for effective law enforcement.
"The institution prepares those who will assume security functions with adherence to legality, responsibility, and a vocation for service."
Rigorous Admission Standards
To be eligible for this training, all candidates must first pass a series of trust control evaluations. These evaluations include toxicological, medical, and psychological assessments, ensuring that only the most qualified individuals are selected to serve in these critical roles. This rigorous screening process is designed to maintain high standards within the police force, fostering trust and reliability in law enforcement.
The director of the AESP emphasized the importance of training and preparation in building a competent police force. By investing in the education and development of new recruits, the academy aims to create a more effective and responsive police service that meets the needs of the community.
"We are committed to training individuals who will serve with integrity and dedication to public safety."
As Baja California Sur continues to grow, the need for a well-trained police force becomes increasingly vital. The AESP's efforts to prepare these new recruits reflect a proactive approach to enhancing public safety and ensuring that law enforcement agencies are equipped to handle the complexities of modern policing. With this new generation of officers ready to serve, the community can look forward to a safer and more secure environment.
