A New Era in Law Enforcement

The State Academy of Public Security (AESP) in Baja California Sur is embarking on an important mission to bolster the region's law enforcement capabilities. With the training of 173 new police recruits, the academy aims to equip these individuals with the necessary skills and knowledge to effectively serve in various police roles, including the State Preventive Police, the Investigative Police, and municipal police forces across the five municipalities of the state.

Antonio Campos Navarrete, the director of AESP, emphasized the significance of this training initiative. He stated,

"Having professional and committed personnel is essential for providing responsible attention to the citizens."

Specialized Training Programs

The training program is meticulously designed to cover a wide range of topics that are crucial for effective policing. For those entering the Police of Proximity, the curriculum includes both theoretical and practical training in areas such as police defense, use of force, citizen safety, weapon handling, and first aid. This comprehensive approach ensures that recruits are well-prepared to handle the diverse challenges they may face in the field.

In contrast, the training for the Investigative Police focuses on victim assistance, strategic criminal prosecution, police action, surveillance, and the proper handling of complaints. This specialized training spans a total of one thousand hours, equivalent to four months, and is conducted by certified instructors and specialists in various fields.

Campos Navarrete added, highlighting the academy's commitment to fostering a culture of integrity and professionalism among its recruits.

Rigorous Admission Standards

To ensure that only the most qualified candidates are selected, the AESP has implemented stringent admission requirements. All aspiring recruits must pass a series of confidence control evaluations, which include toxicological, medical, and psychological examinations. This rigorous screening process is designed to identify individuals who possess the necessary qualities and mental fortitude to serve in law enforcement roles.

The director of AESP reiterated the importance of these evaluations, stating,

"It is crucial that we have individuals who are not only capable but also mentally and physically prepared for the demands of police work."
