New Boxing Gym Construction Kicks Off in Olas Altas

Investment and Community Impact
With an investment of 4 million 993 thousand 125 pesos, funded by the Municipal Social Infrastructure Contribution Fund (FAISMUN), the La Paz City Council has initiated the construction of a boxing gym in the Olas Altas neighborhood. This project is set to directly benefit 3,350 residents, as reported by the acting mayor, Amor Fenech Montaño.
As part of the initial steps, this week the city began removing existing playground equipment from the intervention area, which was deemed unusable or in need of rehabilitation. This preparation is essential for the development of the new sports infrastructure.
Project Features and Facilities
Fenech Montaño explained that the project includes a fully equipped gym for boxing practice, featuring a boxing ring and a punching bag area. Additionally, a second level will be dedicated to multi-training activities. The facilities will also include restrooms, changing rooms, and a cistern to complement the services offered by the building.
"This gym will provide adequate facilities for physical and sports training, offering families in La Paz more spaces to promote physical activity and develop new skills,"
said Fenech Montaño.
Timeline and Future Prospects
The construction is expected to take approximately three months, during which various stages necessary for making the sports space operational will be developed. The mayor emphasized the importance of this project in expanding access to quality sports facilities in the area.
"We are committed to enhancing the community's access to sports infrastructure, which is vital for promoting a healthy lifestyle among our residents,"
she added.
This initiative not only aims to improve sports facilities but also to foster a sense of community and encourage youth participation in physical activities. As the project progresses, it is anticipated that the new gym will become a hub for local athletes and fitness enthusiasts alike, contributing to the overall well-being of the Olas Altas neighborhood.
The construction of the boxing gym represents a significant step forward in the city’s efforts to invest in community health and sports development, ensuring that residents have the necessary resources to engage in physical activities and sports training. The local government’s commitment to enhancing infrastructure is evident in this project, which aligns with broader goals of promoting health and fitness in La Paz.
