Major Rehabilitation of La Paz-Pichilingue Road Set to Begin

Government Initiative for Improved Infrastructure

The government of Baja California Sur is set to commence the second phase of the rehabilitation of the La Paz-Pichilingue road this Saturday, August 29. This initiative, spearheaded by the Secretariat of Urban Planning, Infrastructure, Mobility, Environment, and Natural Resources (SEPUIMM), focuses on the section between El Caimancito beach and the Punta Prieta plant operated by PEMEX.

Carolina Armenta Cervantes, the head of SEPUIMM, announced that the work will take place in the direction from El Caimancito beach towards the Punta Prieta plant. She emphasized the importance of safety during this period, urging drivers to exercise caution and adhere to preventive signage.

"We ask all drivers to be vigilant and respect the traffic signs during the rehabilitation process to ensure their safety and that of others,"

Armenta Cervantes stated.

Investment and Scope of the Project

The project represents a significant investment of 5.7 million pesos, sourced from the Social Infrastructure Works Trust of La Paz (FOIS). Additionally, PEMEX is contributing by providing the asphalt needed for the roadwork. The rehabilitation efforts will include the removal of deteriorated materials, leveling, and the installation of a new asphalt layer, along with necessary road signage.

This phase of the project follows the rehabilitation of the opposite lane, which was completed in April 2025. With the completion of this current work, both directions of the road will be fully rehabilitated, enhancing the connectivity to the port area and various tourist attractions in the capital.

"This action is part of the Roadway Attention Program, which aims to address the infrastructure needs to improve mobility and safety for our citizens,"

Armenta Cervantes added.
