Overview of the Project
The government of Baja California Sur has commenced a significant infrastructure project involving the paving of Constitución Street in La Paz. This initiative represents an investment of 19.4 million pesos and aims to enhance public services in the area. The construction will take place along the stretch between Municipio Libre and Rosaura Zapata streets, primarily benefiting residents of the Francisco Villa and Lázaro Cárdenas neighborhoods.
Israel Soria Villa, head of the Directorate of Road Infrastructure and Urban Mobility, emphasized that the project will not merely involve laying concrete. Instead, it will include the replacement of existing water and sewage networks prior to the paving work.
"The intervention is designed to ensure that once the paving is completed, we do not have to break the concrete again for repairs or to replace hydraulic infrastructure."
Renewal of Essential Services
The decision to renew the water and sewage pipes is a proactive measure aimed at preventing future disruptions. By addressing these critical services before the new pavement is laid, the government aims to minimize the inconvenience to residents and avoid costly repairs in the future. Once the new networks are installed, they will be managed by the Municipal Operator of the Potable Water, Sewage, and Sanitation System of La Paz (OOMSAPAS).
Following the installation of these new utilities, the paving of the street will proceed using hydraulic concrete, which is known for its durability and longevity. This step is crucial for ensuring that the road can withstand the traffic demands of the area.
Enhancements for Safety and Aesthetics
In addition to the paving and utility upgrades, the project will also feature the installation of solar-powered LED streetlights, which will operate autonomously using renewable energy. This is a significant step towards promoting sustainability in urban infrastructure.
The project will also include the construction of curbs and sidewalks, the installation of protective bollards, and the creation of green spaces with landscaping. These enhancements are designed to improve circulation conditions for both motorists and pedestrians in the affected neighborhoods.
As the construction progresses, authorities have advised motorists to use alternate routes and drive cautiously in the vicinity of Constitución Street. They have also urged the public to heed the instructions of personnel working in the area, as the project will temporarily affect traffic flow.
While the specific completion date for the project has not been disclosed by the Ministry of Urban Infrastructure and Mobility (SEPUIMM), the community is encouraged to stay informed about the developments. This initiative not only aims to improve the infrastructure but also to enhance the quality of life for residents in La Paz.
