Major Infrastructure Upgrade for Loreto: Padre Juan de Ugarte Boulevard to be Paved

Enhancing Access to Loreto
As part of the State Road Program's priority actions, the Government of Baja California Sur, through the Secretariat of Urban Planning, Infrastructure, Mobility, Environment, and Natural Resources (SEPUIMM), in collaboration with the Loreto City Council, will commence the paving of Padre Juan de Ugarte Boulevard on October 1. This boulevard serves as the main access point to the municipal seat of Loreto, making this project crucial for local connectivity.
The Director of Road Infrastructure and Urban Mobility at SEPUIMM, Israel Soria Villa, announced that the first phase of the project will cover the stretch between the Transpeninsular Highway (Loreto-Santa Rosalía) and Salvatierra Boulevard. The total investment for this initiative amounts to 29.7 million pesos, sourced from the Loreto Social Infrastructure Works Trust (FOIS).
"This intervention is essential for improving the infrastructure of Loreto, ensuring that it meets the current needs of our community,"
said Soria Villa.
Comprehensive Infrastructure Improvements
In addition to the new pavement, the project will involve a complete overhaul of the water supply and sewage systems. Once the work is completed, these facilities will be handed over to the Municipal Operator of the Potable Water, Sewage, and Sanitation System of Loreto (OOMSAPAS) for ongoing management. This aspect of the project is vital for ensuring that residents have reliable access to essential services.
Furthermore, the initiative will include the construction of curbs and sidewalks, landscaping with regional vegetation, and the installation of urban furniture and traffic signage. The rehabilitation of the public lighting system is also part of the plan, all aimed at enhancing safety and accessibility for both pedestrians and motorists.
"We are transforming one of the main access points to Loreto into a renewed and functional roadway, improving conditions for the community's transit,"
emphasized Soria Villa.
A Vision for the Future
This infrastructure upgrade is not just about paving a road; it represents a significant investment in the future of Loreto. By improving the main access route, the government aims to foster better connectivity, which is essential for local businesses and tourism. Enhanced infrastructure can lead to increased economic activity, benefiting the entire community.
The project aligns with broader efforts by the state government to modernize and improve public infrastructure across Baja California Sur. As the region continues to grow, such investments are crucial for maintaining quality of life and supporting sustainable development.
"Our goal is to create a safe and accessible environment for all residents and visitors, ensuring that our infrastructure keeps pace with the needs of our growing community,"
concluded Soria Villa.
As the paving of Padre Juan de Ugarte Boulevard begins, residents of Loreto can look forward to a more functional and aesthetically pleasing access route that meets contemporary standards. This project is a testament to the commitment of local authorities to enhance the living conditions and safety of their constituents.
