La Paz Kicks Off Municipal Qualifiers for the 2027 CONADE National Olympics

Introduction to the Municipal Qualifiers
In a significant move for local sports, the municipality of La Paz has officially launched its municipal qualifiers aimed at selecting representatives for the upcoming 2027 CONADE National Olympics. The initiative, spearheaded by the La Paz City Council through its Municipal Sports Directorate, is set to commence this week, with competitions starting on October 3.
The Municipal Sports Director, Guillermo Ortalejo Hernández, emphasized the importance of these qualifiers in shaping the future of local athletes. He stated,
"We are going to start with beach volleyball, 3x3 basketball, and boxing, which are the first disciplines that will have activity in search of forming the municipal selectives that will represent us in the state stage of the Olympics."
Schedule of Events
The qualifiers will kick off with beach volleyball taking place at the beach next to the Kiosco on the Malecón. Following this, 3x3 basketball will be held at the Manuel Gómez Jiménez court. The schedule is designed to provide ample opportunities for athletes across various sports to showcase their skills and compete for a spot on the municipal team.
The calendar continues with municipal football eliminations from October 8 to 11 at the Municipal Sports Center (CDM) “El Piojillo.” Boxing competitions are also set for October 9 to 11 at the Los Mangos Park in the Indeco neighborhood. Ortalejo Hernández noted the structured approach to these events, stating,
"These qualifiers will allow us to evaluate the performance of local athletes to determine who will be part of the municipal selectives that will advance to the next competitive stage."
Engaging the Community
The Municipal Sports Director has extended an invitation to all interested athletes, coaches, families, and the broader sports community to stay informed about the competition calendar and participate in the various selection stages. This initiative not only aims to foster talent but also to engage the community in supporting local sports.
The beach volleyball eliminations will take place on October 16 at the Manuel Gómez Jiménez court, coinciding with the first round of evaluations for athletics, where athletes will have their initial marks recorded. A second round of evaluations is scheduled for December, ensuring that athletes have multiple opportunities to qualify.
