La Paz City Council Takes Action to Address Community Needs with 'President in Your Neighborhood'

A New Approach to Community Engagement

In a proactive effort to connect with residents, the La Paz City Council launched the 'President in Your Neighborhood' initiative, spearheaded by interim mayor Amor Fenech Montaño. This program aims to directly address the needs of families in the Calafia neighborhood, providing essential services and urban improvements. During the first day of this initiative, over 500 social services were rendered, showcasing the council's commitment to community welfare.

The initiative not only focuses on social services but also emphasizes urban improvement. More than 55 tons of waste were collected, highlighting the importance of cleanliness and maintenance in residential areas. The mayor's hands-on approach allows her to listen to the concerns of residents firsthand, ensuring that their voices are heard and acted upon.

Urban Improvements and Community Services

As part of the urban improvement efforts, the city council addressed several pressing issues raised by residents, including potholes, lighting, and maintenance of dirt roads. A total of 183 potholes were repaired on Calafia Street, from the entrance of the neighborhood to Tedda Street. Additionally, leveling work was completed on seven kilometers across eight dirt roads, including Cayiji, Talle, Yiju, Fajua, Kada, Tedda, Chirea, and Kayijit.

In addition to pothole repairs, the council undertook cleaning and removal of debris on Calafia Street, between Guaquil and Queda. This effort is part of a broader strategy to enhance the urban landscape and ensure safer environments for residents. The installation of a new speed bump and the painting of two existing speed bumps, pedestrian crossings, and wheelchair ramps further demonstrate the council's commitment to improving public safety.
