Cemetery Fumigation

Intensified Fumigation Efforts

In a proactive move to safeguard public health, the La Paz City Council, in collaboration with the Secretary of Health, has launched an intensive fumigation and pest control campaign at the Los San Juanes Cemetery. This initiative aims to significantly reduce the presence of the Aedes aegypti mosquito, a known vector for dengue, zika, and chikungunya viruses. The campaign is part of ongoing efforts to ensure that public spaces remain safe for families visiting their loved ones.

During this operation, vehicles equipped with nebulization machines from the Secretary of Health conducted thermal fogging in various areas of the cemetery. This method is particularly crucial during the rainy season, as the conditions during this time are conducive to mosquito breeding. The City Council emphasized the importance of these preventive measures, stating that they are essential to protect the community from potential health risks associated with mosquito-borne diseases.

"We are committed to ensuring that our cemeteries are safe and clean for all visitors," said a spokesperson from the La Paz City Council. "The rainy season presents unique challenges, and we must act decisively to mitigate the risks."

Community Involvement in Prevention

The La Paz City Council is not only taking action through fumigation but is also urging the community to play an active role in mosquito prevention. Residents are encouraged to take simple yet effective measures to prevent mosquito breeding in and around the cemetery. One of the key recommendations is to replace water in flower vases with damp sand or to use artificial flowers instead. This practice helps eliminate standing water, which is a breeding ground for mosquitoes.

Additionally, the City Council advises the public to remove any containers, bottles, or objects that could collect rainwater or irrigation water. This collective effort is vital in reducing the mosquito population and preventing the spread of diseases.

"We ask our community to be vigilant and proactive in maintaining cleanliness in the cemetery," the spokesperson added. "Every small action contributes to a healthier environment."

Ongoing Maintenance and Vigilance

The La Paz City Council has assured residents that maintenance, cleaning, sanitation, and surveillance of municipal cemeteries are ongoing processes carried out throughout the year. These efforts are intensified during the rainy season to prevent health risks and ensure that the cemeteries remain dignified and safe spaces for families. The commitment to public health is evident in the continuous monitoring and management of these areas.

The City Council's approach not only focuses on immediate actions but also emphasizes the importance of community engagement in maintaining a safe environment. By fostering a culture of prevention and responsibility, the La Paz City Council aims to create a healthier community for all its residents.

"Our goal is to work together with the community to keep our cemeteries clean and safe," the spokesperson concluded. "Together, we can make a difference in the fight against mosquito-borne diseases."

As the rainy season continues, the La Paz City Council remains vigilant and committed to protecting public health through these essential measures. The collaboration between local authorities and the community is crucial in the ongoing battle against the dengue-transmitting mosquito.
