Preserving Traditions and Identity
In a bid to preserve the rich traditions and cultural identity of the residents of Cabo San Lucas, the XV City Council of Los Cabos has announced a call for young women to participate in the election of the Queen of the Traditional Festivals of Cabo San Lucas 2026. This initiative, spearheaded by the General Directorate of Social Development and the Municipal Directorate of Organization and Citizen Participation, aims to engage the local youth in celebrating their heritage.
The invitation is specifically directed at young women aged between 18 and 25 years, who have a minimum of five years of residency in the Cabo San Lucas Delegation. Importantly, candidates must not have participated in previous editions of the contest nor hold a current title from similar competitions. This ensures fresh faces and new talents can represent the community.
Registration Details and Requirements
Registration for the contest will open on Thursday, September 24, and will remain available until all eight candidate spots are filled, with a final deadline set for Wednesday, September 30, at 3:00 PM. Interested candidates are encouraged to visit the offices of the Delegational Coordination of Organization and Citizen Participation, located on Camino a la Candelaria, between Isla Mujeres Street and Caribe INVI neighborhood in Cabo San Lucas.
To register, candidates must provide copies of essential documents, including their INE identification card, birth certificate, CURP, and a current school certificate. For further inquiries, the city council has made available a contact number: (624) 178-0685.
The Contest and Prizes
The election event is scheduled for Sunday, October 11, at 7:00 PM, taking place in the Plaza Pública León Cota Collins. The judging panel will assess participants based on various criteria, including dance performance, modeling skills, talent showcase, stage presence, runway walk, and a question-and-answer segment.
The winner of the contest will be awarded a crown, a sash, and a monetary prize of 10,000 pesos. The second-place contestant will receive the title of Princess along with 5,000 pesos, while the third-place contestant will be honored with the title of Lady of Honor and a prize of 3,000 pesos. The official coronation ceremony will occur on Friday, October 16, coinciding with the celebrations of the Traditional Festivals.
