The State Water Commission (CEA) of Baja California Sur has taken a firm step in strengthening the state's water security by announcing an investment exceeding 26.4 million pesos for the expansion of drinking water infrastructure and sanitation systems. In 2026, the institutional goal is clear: to reduce inequality gaps in access to basic services, especially in areas that have historically faced difficulties in having a constant and safe supply.

These funds will be channeled through various public works programs that include everything from the rehabilitation of wells and the extension of conduction networks to the improvement of wastewater treatment plants. For a state with a semi-arid climate like ours, every peso invested in sanitation represents an opportunity for water reuse in secondary activities, relieving pressure on our aquifers. CEA authorities have emphasized that these works not only improve public health but are also fundamental for the sustainable economic development of the five municipalities.

Transparency and technical efficiency will be the pillars of this investment package. Work is expected to begin in the short term, prioritizing rural communities and outlying neighborhoods in urban centers with the highest demographic growth. With this action, the State Government reaffirms its commitment to modernizing the state's hydraulic network, adapting it to the climatic demands of 2026 and ensuring that the human right to water is a tangible reality for thousands of South Californians who will see a direct improvement in their quality of life.
