Governor Supports Women and Small Producers in BCS with the 'Volver a Crecer' Program

Financial Relief for Local Producers

In a significant move to bolster the local economy, Governor Víctor Manuel Castro Cosío, alongside Mónica Fernández Balboa, the General Director of the Institute for Returning Stolen Goods to the People (INDEP), delivered 130 letters of settlement to women and small producers in Baja California Sur. This initiative is part of the 'Volver a Crecer' program, which aims to provide essential financial support to those who have faced economic hardships.

The program has released a total of 414 credits, with an additional 236 credits undergoing restructuring, benefiting a total of 650 individuals across the state. The initiative allocates a substantial fund of 384.5 million pesos primarily aimed at supporting agricultural and livestock producers. Among the beneficiaries, 135 are women producers and 515 are small producers from all five municipalities in the region.

"This action provides a response to those who have faced financial difficulties for years, limiting the development of their productive projects,"

said Castro Cosío during the event held outside the Government Palace.

Empowering Women and Small Producers

The 'Volver a Crecer' program not only addresses financial challenges but also empowers women and small producers by facilitating their access to formal financing schemes. During the event, new beneficiaries were incorporated into the discount program, which has a reach across all five regions of Baja California Sur.

The governor expressed gratitude for the support from President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo, emphasizing the importance of this initiative in fostering economic recovery and growth. The program aims to create better conditions for beneficiaries to reorganize their finances and re-enter formal financing avenues.

"We are committed to ensuring that our local producers have the necessary support to thrive and succeed in their endeavors,"

he added, highlighting the government's dedication to uplifting the community.

Transitioning Financial Responsibility

The Financial National Development Agency for Agricultural, Rural, Forest, and Fisheries Development ceased operations in 2023, leading to the INDEP being designated as responsible for its liquidation process. In this context, the 'Volver a Crecer' program plays a crucial role in addressing the credits from the defunct institution through schemes of release and restructuring, facilitating the recovery of the corresponding guarantees.
