Introduction to the Program
The Governor of Baja California Sur, Víctor Manuel Castro Cosío, recently inaugurated a significant food assistance program designed to support families in vulnerable situations. This initiative, which took place in the Plaza de la Reforma, aims to provide essential food supplies to families across four municipalities: Mulegé, Comondú, La Paz, and Los Cabos. The program is part of the broader strategy known as Échale Montón, which focuses on enhancing the well-being of the community through direct support.
Details of the Initiative
During the launch event, it was announced that a total of 670 families from 53 communities and neighborhoods will benefit from this program. Each family will receive four food baskets, totaling 2,680 baskets distributed as part of the initiative. The state government allocated 2 million 144 thousand pesos for this first delivery, which underscores its commitment to addressing food security and improving the living conditions of those in need.
"This program is a vital step towards ensuring that no family goes hungry and that we can support those who need it most,"
said Castro Cosío during the event.
The food baskets are designed to meet basic nutritional needs, contributing to the overall health and development of families in Baja California Sur. The initiative not only addresses immediate food requirements but also aims to foster a sense of community and support among residents.
Collaboration and Community Engagement
Patricia López Navarro, president of the State System for the Comprehensive Development of the Family (SEDIF), also spoke at the event, highlighting the importance of collaboration among various government departments. She recognized the efforts of the Groups of Friends for Well-Being (GAB), which are composed of different state agencies working together to bring programs, support, and services directly to communities.
"The work of the Groups of Friends for Well-Being is crucial in making sure that these programs reach those who need them most,"
López Navarro stated, emphasizing the collaborative spirit of the initiative.
The Governor reiterated the importance of collective efforts in expanding support to more households, reinforcing the administration's commitment to maintaining a government that is close to the people of Baja California Sur. This program is seen as a model for future initiatives aimed at enhancing community welfare and resilience.
"By joining forces, we can provide more comprehensive support to our communities and ensure that every family has access to the resources they need to thrive,"
Castro Cosío concluded.
As the program rolls out, it is expected to make a significant impact on the lives of many families, providing not just food but also hope and a sense of security in challenging times.
