In a significant meeting held at the Plaza de la Reforma in La Paz, Baja California Sur, Governor Víctor Manuel Castro Cosío greeted President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo. This encounter marked an important moment for the state as it underscored the collaborative efforts between the state government and the federal administration. Castro expressed his appreciation for the progress made during the first two years of Sheinbaum's presidency, emphasizing the importance of this partnership for the local populace.

"I recognize the achievements that have been made under your administration, and I am committed to continuing our joint efforts to address the pressing needs of our state,"

Castro stated during the meeting.

The governor highlighted the ongoing collaboration with the federal government to tackle critical issues affecting Baja California Sur. Among these, water scarcity, education, healthcare, public safety, and infrastructure development were identified as top priorities. The commitment to these areas is crucial for the sustainable growth and well-being of the state's residents.

Federal Support for Local Industries

During his address, Castro also pointed out the federal support extended to various productive sectors within the state, including fishing, aquaculture, livestock, and agriculture. These industries play a vital role in sustaining local communities and the overall economy of Baja California Sur.

"The federal government has been instrumental in supporting our productive activities, which are essential for the livelihoods of our people,"

he remarked, emphasizing the importance of these sectors.

The governor's acknowledgment of federal assistance reflects a broader strategy to enhance economic resilience and ensure that local industries thrive amid challenges. This support is not only crucial for economic stability but also for maintaining the cultural heritage tied to these traditional activities.

Social Programs Impacting Lives

In addition to economic support, Castro discussed the impact of social programs on the residents of Baja California Sur. He revealed that over 300,000 locals benefit from various federal assistance programs, which have resulted in a significant financial influx into the state.

"These programs have injected approximately 3 billion pesos into our economy this year alone, and we expect that over 4 billion pesos will be channeled through these initiatives in 2025,"

he noted, highlighting the tangible benefits of federal support.

The governor's remarks underscore the importance of these programs in improving the quality of life for many citizens, particularly in a region where economic disparities can be pronounced. By focusing on social welfare, the government aims to create a more equitable society where all residents have access to essential services and support.

In his closing remarks, Castro expressed solidarity with President Sheinbaum, reaffirming the commitment of the people of Baja California Sur to work alongside the federal government in addressing the needs of the population. This meeting not only symbolizes a strong partnership but also sets the stage for future collaborations aimed at fostering development and improving the lives of citizens in the region.
