Government of Víctor Castro Strengthens Livestock Sector Support with Land Grant and Life Insurance for 2027

Land Grant to Support Livestock Associations
In a significant move to bolster the livestock sector in Baja California Sur, Governor Víctor Manuel Castro Cosío announced the delivery of a 2.5-hectare plot of land on a 50-year lease to the Unión Ganadera Regional (UGR). This initiative is aimed at benefiting 30 livestock associations across the state, providing them with a dedicated space to enhance their operations and productivity.
"This space will allow for technical and productive actions benefiting those engaged in livestock farming, a labor that is part of the history and life of our rural communities,"
Castro Cosío stated during the announcement.
The governor emphasized the importance of public resources being utilized for community benefit, particularly for those who have sustained agricultural practices in the region for years. The land will serve as a foundation for various initiatives aimed at improving the livelihoods of local farmers.
Introduction of Life Insurance for Farmers
In addition to the land grant, Governor Castro announced that starting in 2027, livestock producers in Baja California Sur will have access to life insurance. This initiative is designed to expand social protection for those whose livelihoods depend on farming, offering them a safety net in times of crisis.
"The public goods must be at the service of the community, especially for those who have sustained the work of the field in the state for years,"
he remarked, highlighting the administration's commitment to supporting the agricultural sector.
The introduction of life insurance is expected to provide peace of mind to farmers, ensuring that they have financial support in the event of unforeseen circumstances that may affect their well-being and property. This measure is part of a broader strategy to enhance the quality of life for those engaged in agriculture in the region.
Financial Investment in the Livestock Sector
Governor Castro also revealed that his administration has allocated 383 million pesos to promote the livestock industry. This funding is directed towards improving the conditions for those who rely on farming as their primary source of income. The governor noted that there are now greater supports available to continue this essential work.
"Baja California Sur remains a national reference in animal health, a result of the coordinated work between producers and authorities to protect livestock production and maintain suitable conditions for its growth,"
Castro Cosío added.
This financial commitment underscores the government's dedication to fostering a robust agricultural sector, ensuring that farmers have the necessary resources to thrive. The collaborative efforts between the government and local producers are crucial for maintaining high standards of animal health and productivity.
As the administration continues to support the agricultural community, Castro Cosío assured that this backing would persist until the end of his term, reinforcing the importance of agriculture in the state's economy and culture. The initiatives announced are expected to have a lasting impact on the livelihoods of families who depend on farming in Baja California Sur.
