Chimango Gastronomic Contest

A Celebration of Local Flavors

The XV Ayuntamiento de Los Cabos, led by Christian Agúndez Gómez, is inviting residents to participate in the Chimango Gastronomic Contest, scheduled for October 26, 2026, at 5:00 PM. This event aims to celebrate and preserve the rich culinary traditions of the region, providing a platform for local talent to shine.

The contest is organized by the Delegación Municipal de Miraflores, under the guidance of delegate Aremy García, in collaboration with the Dirección General de Fomento Económico and the Coordinación de Fomento Económico of Miraflores. This initiative not only promotes gastronomy but also fosters community engagement and cultural pride.

Participation Details and Requirements

Residents of Miraflores and its subdelegations who are 18 years or older are eligible to participate, either individually or in teams of up to two members. Importantly, only one team per family is allowed to ensure fair competition. Interested participants can register at the offices of the Coordinación de Fomento Económico in Miraflores, where they must present a copy of their official identification.

Participants are required to prepare their chimangos in advance, ready for presentation and serving. The judging criteria will include taste, presentation, creativity, originality, and the ability to explain the recipe. This comprehensive evaluation process aims to highlight not just the culinary skills but also the storytelling aspect of local dishes.

Prizes and Recognition

The contest promises exciting prizes for the top three participants, with awards of 5,000 pesos for first place, 3,000 pesos for second, and 2,000 pesos for third. These incentives are designed to encourage participation and recognize the culinary talents within the community.

For those seeking further information about the contest, they can reach out to Licenciada Thalía Guadalupe de la Peña Montaño at (624) 155-3679. This event represents a wonderful opportunity for locals to engage with their culinary heritage and showcase their skills to the community.

"We invite everyone to join us in this celebration of our local gastronomy and to bring their best chimangos to the table,"

said Aremy García, emphasizing the importance of community involvement in preserving culinary traditions.

As the date approaches, excitement is building among residents, eager to participate and share their culinary creations. The Chimango Gastronomic Contest not only promises to be a fun event but also a meaningful celebration of the flavors and traditions that define Miraflores and the broader region of Los Cabos.
