Enhancing Public Safety: La Paz City Council Repairs Over 2,000 Streetlights

Significant Repairs in July and August

In a concerted effort to improve public safety and enhance the quality of life for residents, the La Paz City Council has successfully repaired 2,047 streetlights during the months of July and August. This initiative aims to ensure that both urban and rural areas are well-lit, providing safer environments for citizens during nighttime hours. Carlos Núñez Geraldo, the head of the General Directorate of Municipal Public Services, emphasized the importance of these repairs for community safety.

"Our goal is to maintain public spaces and roadways safe with adequate lighting at night,"

Núñez Geraldo stated.

The repairs were part of ongoing maintenance and rehabilitation efforts by the city government, addressing needs identified by municipal crews during nighttime inspections and reports submitted by residents. The initiative reflects a commitment to responsive governance and community engagement.

Community Involvement and Reporting

During this two-month period, the city received and addressed 640 citizen reports through the App La Paz, with 331 reports in July and 309 in August. This digital platform allows residents to report issues such as non-functioning streetlights, thereby fostering a collaborative approach to municipal services.

"We encourage citizens to utilize the App La Paz, where they can find the option 'Lamp not lighting,'"

Núñez Geraldo urged.

Residents can activate GPS features to pinpoint the exact location of the malfunctioning streetlight, providing additional details such as street names and nearby landmarks, along with photographs to assist in the repair process. This proactive engagement not only aids in efficient service delivery but also empowers citizens to take an active role in their community.

Comprehensive Repairs Across Delegations

The repairs were not limited to the city center; various delegations and sub-delegations also benefited from the initiative. A total of 270 lamps were repaired in areas such as Todos Santos, San Bartolo, El Sargento, and San Pedro México, among others. Specific numbers include 118 repairs in Todos Santos, 49 in San Bartolo, and 32 in El Sargento, showcasing the city's commitment to comprehensive service across all regions.

"The City Council will continue with the rehabilitation and maintenance of public lighting, addressing the needs of different communities and strengthening citizen participation mechanisms to improve public services,"

Núñez Geraldo concluded.
