Empowering Women

Introduction

In a significant move towards empowering women in Baja California Sur, the Secretary of Tourism and Economy (SETUE) has launched a series of initiatives aimed at enhancing financial literacy and entrepreneurial skills among women in the region. This initiative, part of the campaign “Stop Violence,” has successfully engaged over 60 women from the municipalities of Comondú, Loreto, and Mulegé.

Financial Education and Empowerment

The program titled “Women Entrepreneurs and Financial Education” focuses on providing essential tools that enable women to improve their resource management and identify financial services and products. Maribel Collins, the head of SETUE, emphasized the importance of these tools in fostering economic independence.

“Having access to these tools allows women to make better decisions and move towards greater economic autonomy,” Collins stated.

This initiative not only aims to enhance individual capabilities but also seeks to create a ripple effect that benefits families and communities. By equipping women with the necessary skills, the program aspires to uplift entire communities through enhanced economic participation.

Workshops for Business Growth

In addition to financial education, the initiative included a workshop titled “Commercial Strategies for Business Growth.” This workshop was specifically designed for entrepreneurs and businesswomen, covering critical topics such as positioning, sales, customer service, and client management. The goal was to provide participants with practical tools to increase their business competitiveness.

“We are committed to bringing free training to municipalities and communities in Baja California Sur, enabling women to start and consolidate productive initiatives,” Collins reaffirmed.

The workshop not only addressed theoretical aspects but also provided hands-on strategies that participants could immediately implement in their businesses. This practical approach is essential for fostering a robust entrepreneurial ecosystem in the region.

Commitment to Inclusive Economic Growth

Collins reiterated SETUE's commitment to promoting inclusive economic growth through initiatives that empower women. By focusing on education and entrepreneurship, the government aims to create a more equitable economic landscape where women can thrive.

“Our actions contribute to a more inclusive economy with greater opportunities for all,” she concluded.

As these women embark on their entrepreneurial journeys, the impact of this program is expected to resonate throughout their communities, fostering a culture of empowerment and economic resilience. With ongoing support and training, the future looks promising for women entrepreneurs in Baja California Sur, paving the way for a brighter and more equitable economic future.
