Description

A Gathering of Educators

In a significant event for the educational landscape of Baja California Sur, over 800 teachers participated in the state forum titled “The Nueva Escuela Mexicana at Three Years,” held at the La Paz Convention Center. This forum aimed to share experiences and results from the implementation of the Nueva Escuela Mexicana (NEM) initiative, which seeks to transform the educational system in Mexico. José María Hernández Manríquez, the General Director of Basic Education at the Ministry of Public Education (SEP), emphasized the importance of this gathering.

"The dialogue and analysis allowed us to recognize the voice of the teaching community as a pillar of the transformation and consolidation of the national and local curriculum,"

he stated, highlighting the critical role educators play in shaping the future of education in the region.

Recognizing the Role of Teachers

During the forum, Hernández Manríquez acknowledged the hard work of teachers not only in classrooms but also in leadership and supervisory roles. He pointed out that many projects initiated by teachers have successfully addressed community issues, aligning with the objectives of the Nueva Escuela Mexicana. This initiative promotes a more inclusive and participatory approach to education, aiming to cater to the diverse needs of students across the country.

"We must recover experiences that arise from the diversity of schools to collectively project actions that strengthen teaching practices,"

he added, underscoring the importance of collaboration among educators.

Proposals for Improvement

The event featured 40 proposals from various educational levels, including initial, preschool, primary, and secondary education, as well as physical and special education modalities. These proposals were crafted to enhance educational practices and address specific challenges faced by schools in Baja California Sur. From these, ten proposals will be selected to represent the state at the regional forum scheduled for September 22 in Hermosillo, Sonora.

This selection process not only highlights the innovative ideas emerging from local educators but also serves as a platform for sharing best practices across the region. The forum is expected to foster collaboration and inspire further developments in educational strategies.

As the Nueva Escuela Mexicana continues to evolve, events like this forum play a crucial role in ensuring that educators have a voice in shaping the future of education in Mexico. The commitment of teachers to improve their practices and address community needs reflects a broader movement towards a more responsive and effective educational system.

The discussions and proposals generated during this forum will undoubtedly contribute to the ongoing transformation of education in Baja California Sur, paving the way for a brighter future for students and educators alike.
