Investment in Local Sports Infrastructure
In a significant move to enhance local sports facilities, the La Paz City Council has initiated the construction of a football field in the El Sargento delegation. This project, which involves an investment of approximately 4 million pesos, is part of broader efforts to strengthen sports infrastructure and create spaces that contribute to the prevention and development of youth in the area.
"This is the first field we are building with our own resources for such a significant investment; normally, we carry out this type of project with federal resources because they require substantial funding,"
stated Amor Fenech Montaño, the acting mayor.
The mayor emphasized the progress made by the local government, noting that previously, the budget was insufficient to cover payroll or operational costs. Now, the administration is not only able to meet these needs but also invest in public works.
Enhancing Community Spaces
The new football field is the latest addition to the municipality's ongoing efforts to improve community spaces. It adds to over 96 transformed areas during the current administration, which includes sports fields, parks, and courts. This initiative aims to provide children and adolescents with dignified, safe, and high-quality places to practice sports, engage in artistic activities, socialize, and enhance their overall development.
"The goal is for children and adolescents to have dignified, safe, and quality places to practice sports, develop artistic activities, socialize, and improve their integral development,"
Fenech Montaño highlighted.
The dimensions of the football field are 90 by 45 meters, making it the largest field constructed during this municipal administration for the practice of Football 11. The construction work includes the establishment of a grass field, the installation and application of silica sand, the construction of bleachers, and the erection of a retaining wall on one side of the perimeter.
Future Opportunities for Youth
In addition to the infrastructure improvements, Fenech Montaño announced the introduction of two new promoters for the Impulso program in El Sargento. These promoters will provide free football classes, expanding opportunities for sports training among local youth. This initiative not only aims to enhance sports participation but also seeks to foster a sense of community and teamwork among the younger population.
"We are excited to introduce new opportunities for our youth through free football classes, which will help them develop their skills and stay engaged in positive activities,"
the mayor concluded.
As the construction of the football field progresses, it is clear that the La Paz City Council is committed to investing in the future of its youth and the community at large. This project is a testament to the importance of sports as a vehicle for personal and social development, ensuring that the next generation has the resources and support they need to thrive.
