A New Culinary Tradition

In a bid to promote the productive and tourist activities of the northern region, the Government of Baja California Sur has announced the first edition of the 'El Sazón del Rancho' festival. Scheduled for October 19 in San Ignacio, Mulegé, this event will showcase the talents of 45 local fishing and agricultural producers. The festival aims to highlight the rich culture, traditions, and gastronomy of the area, providing a platform for local artisans to present their goods.

The coordinator of Tourism in San Ignacio, Dorian Alberto Salvatierra, emphasized the importance of this initiative, stating that it is a collaborative effort involving local producers from the San Ignacio delegation. These producers have played a crucial role in planning the festival, alongside representatives from sub-delegations, ranches, and communities within the municipality.

"This project was built with the participation of producers who have been part of other festivals and are originally from San Ignacio, as well as from communities like La Laguna de San Ignacio, San Francisco de la Sierra, La Bocana, and Ejido Alfredo V. Bonfil,"

he noted.

Learning from Successful Models

The inspiration for 'El Sazón del Rancho' stems from the success of other regional festivals, such as MaQueCho and the Festival del Cabrito. These events have successfully showcased the diversity and quality of products from Baja California Sur, setting a precedent for what local festivals can achieve. Salvatierra pointed out that the experience gained from these previous events has been invaluable in shaping the new festival.

"This initiative is not just about food; it’s about bringing together our community and celebrating what makes us unique," Salvatierra added. "We want to create a space where local producers can shine and where visitors can experience the true essence of our region."

Promoting Local Heritage

The festival is expected to serve as a significant opportunity to promote the products and traditions of San Ignacio. By creating a vibrant environment for local producers, the event will not only enhance the visibility of their work but also foster a deeper appreciation for the agricultural and fishing activities that are vital to the community's economy.

Salvatierra expressed optimism about the festival's potential impact on local tourism and commerce. He believes that by showcasing the region's culinary offerings, the festival can attract visitors and encourage them to explore more of what Baja California Sur has to offer.

"This proposal will allow us to promote the products and traditions of the region, as well as generate a space to showcase the work of those engaged in fishing and agricultural activities in our communities,"

he concluded.

As the date approaches, excitement is building around the inaugural 'El Sazón del Rancho' festival, promising a celebration of local flavors and community spirit that is sure to leave a lasting impression on all who attend.
