CECyTE BCS Partners with Learning Cities Network and EPI Mexico for Innovative Education

A New Educational Initiative

The Colegio de Estudios Científicos y Tecnológicos del Estado de Baja California Sur (CECyTE BCS) has recently formalized a collaboration agreement with the Learning Cities Network of Mexico A.C. and Ecology Project International – Mexico (EPI Mexico). This partnership aims to integrate teachers and students into the program “Knowledge from the Territory.”

The initiative focuses on providing educational experiences outside the traditional classroom setting, leveraging the biodiversity and natural spaces of Baja California Sur. The goal is to connect school curricula with the unique characteristics of each community, enriching the educational experience through real-world applications.

"This alliance will allow us to expand formative experiences and foster a direct connection between students and the realities of their communities,"

said Vladimir Torres Navarro, the general director of CECyTE BCS.

Connecting Education with Community and Environment

“Knowledge from the Territory” is a project developed by EPI Mexico, supported by the Secretary of Public Education. It aligns with the principles of the New Mexican School (NEM) and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the 2030 Agenda. The program emphasizes the importance of experiential learning, encouraging students to engage with their local environment and community.

As part of the agreement, educational guides and activities will be created, tailored to the specific characteristics of each community. This approach aims to relate the knowledge acquired in the classroom to the natural and social aspects that are integral to students' realities.
