The event showcased the best athletes in the country, and Patrón emerged as a star by winning a total of five medals in the swimming competitions. His achievements have not only brought pride to his state but also highlighted the potential of athletes with disabilities.

Patrón's medal haul included a gold medal in the 200-meter butterfly, along with three silver medals and one bronze. His exceptional results contributed to Baja California Sur securing the 22nd position in the overall classification, a testament to the hard work and dedication of the athletes representing the state.

The role of coaches in the development of athletes cannot be overstated. Linton Fritz Navarro Holms, Patrón's coach, played a crucial part in his preparation for the national event. The collaboration between the athlete and his coach has been instrumental in achieving such remarkable results. Holms has been dedicated to refining Patrón's skills and ensuring he is ready to compete at the highest level.

"The journey to this moment has been filled with hard work and perseverance, and I am grateful for the support of my coach and the INSUDE team," Patrón expressed. "Winning these medals is a dream come true, and I hope to inspire others to pursue their goals."

The support from the Sudcalifornian Institute of Sports has been vital in providing athletes like Patrón with the resources and training necessary to excel. The institute has been actively promoting sports for individuals with disabilities, ensuring they have equal opportunities to compete and succeed.

A New Generation of Athletes

In addition to Patrón's success, the event also marked the debut of another promising athlete, Diego Mejía Castillo. Competing at a national level for the first time, Mejía is looking to gain experience and improve his performance in future competitions. His participation in the National Paralympics is a significant step in his athletic career, and he aims to follow in the footsteps of established athletes like Patrón.

The swimming competitions took place from September 24 to 29, 2026, and included various disciplines such as boccia and powerlifting. The National Paralympics serve as a platform for athletes with disabilities to showcase their talents and compete against the best in the country, fostering a spirit of inclusion and determination.
