Expanding Access to Sports
In an effort to promote sports among children and youth, the Caravana del Deporte, organized by the Instituto Sudcaliforniano del Deporte (INSUDE), has successfully reached more than 40 communities across Baja California Sur. This initiative has involved an investment exceeding 2 million 200 thousand pesos in sports equipment for various disciplines. The program aims to enhance access to physical activities and foster community engagement.
The Caravana del Deporte has made stops in several locations, including Ciudad Constitución, Palo Bola, Ejido Benito Juárez, Ejido 1, Ciudad Insurgentes, Villa Ignacio Zaragoza, San Juanico, Las Barrancas, La Poza Grande, and María Auxiliadora, all situated in the municipality of Comondú. During these visits, sports materials were distributed to encourage participation in various athletic activities.
"We are committed to bringing sports closer to our children and youth, ensuring they have the necessary tools to engage in physical activities,"
said Noé Fiol Verduzco, the head of INSUDE.
Fostering Community and Talent
The initiative not only aims to provide access to sports but also to promote social interaction and the identification of new talents within the communities. By facilitating sports activities, the Caravana del Deporte creates a platform for children and young people to discover their potential and develop their skills in a supportive environment.
"These actions expand opportunities for access to sports and physical activity, fostering community spirit and helping to identify new talents,"
stated Lucía Ibeth Silvestre Collins, the Operational Director of INSUDE.
The presence of local sports authorities, including Luis Castillo Méndez, the Director of Sports in Comondú, underscores the collaborative effort to enhance sports infrastructure and opportunities in the region. The initiative has garnered positive feedback from community members, who appreciate the focus on youth development through sports.
Future Plans for the Caravana del Deporte
Looking ahead, the Caravana del Deporte is set to continue its journey across Baja California Sur, with plans to reach more locations, including areas in Los Cabos. This ongoing effort reflects the commitment of the government and local organizations to prioritize youth engagement through sports.
"We will keep moving forward to ensure that more children and young people have access to sports and the benefits that come with it,"
added Fiol Verduzco.
The Caravana del Deporte not only aims to provide equipment but also to inspire a culture of health and fitness among the youth of Baja California Sur. As the initiative progresses, it stands as a testament to the power of sports in building community and nurturing the next generation of athletes.
