Call for Young Women to Compete for La Paz Carnival Queen 2027

Invitation to Participate
The La Paz City Council, through the Carnival Committee, has officially opened the call for young women aged 18 to 29 to participate in the contest to select the Queen of the 2027 Carnival, themed “The Party of the Future.” Juan Lara Guzmán, the municipal director of Culture, announced this exciting opportunity for local youth to engage in one of the most cherished traditions of La Paz.
"We invite all young women who meet the criteria to represent our city in this vibrant celebration,"
said Lara Guzmán.
The application process will remain open until Friday, October 30, at 2:00 PM. Interested candidates are required to submit their documentation at the Municipal Culture Directorate's offices, including proof of Mexican nationality, a copy of their voter ID, and a health certificate. Enthusiasm and a passion for representing the city during its most significant festivities are also essential.
Requirements and Registration Process
Each participant must form a working committee consisting of a president, a treasurer, and a vocal member. As part of the registration process, candidates are required to deposit a fee of 15,000 pesos directly at the Municipal Treasury by the deadline of November 6.
"This fee helps support the organization of the event and ensures that we have a well-structured competition,"
explained Lara Guzmán.
Candidates will also be expected to partake in the official presentation organized by the Carnival Committee, as well as in the election counting process, where votes for each candidate will be tallied. This structured approach aims to ensure transparency and fairness in the selection of the Carnival Queen and her court.
Titles and Responsibilities
The titles to be awarded during this festive event include: Queen of the Carnival, Princess of the Carnival, Queen of Poetry, Princess of Poetry, Queen of Youth, and Princess of Youth. The winners will have the honor of participating in traditional parades aboard floats designated by the Organizing Committee, wearing dresses designed specifically for each float.
"Winning a title in this contest is not just about the crown; it’s about representing the spirit of La Paz and its culture,"
emphasized Lara Guzmán.
For those interested in participating, the municipal director of Culture encourages them to review the complete guidelines and submit their documentation at the Culture Directorate's offices, located at the intersection of Artículo Noveno and Símbolos Patrios streets in the Diana Laura neighborhood. The office is open Monday to Friday from 8:00 AM to 3:00 PM. For further inquiries, potential candidates can reach out via phone at 612 129 4872.
This initiative not only promotes cultural engagement but also empowers young women in La Paz to take part in a significant community event, fostering a sense of pride and connection among residents. The Carnival is a time-honored tradition that showcases the vibrant culture of La Paz, and the selection of its queen is a vital part of this celebration.
