Artistic Call

Celebrating Visual Arts in Baja California Sur

The Sudcalifornian Institute of Culture (ISC) has officially launched a call for artists in Baja California Sur to participate in the upcoming contest titled “Fotosensible 2026.” This initiative aims to recognize and promote innovative proposals in the field of visual arts, encouraging local talent to showcase their creativity through photography.

The ISC's director, Víctor Hugo Caballero Gutiérrez, emphasized the importance of this contest for the cultural landscape of the region. He stated,

"The selection will consider criteria such as creativity, originality, technical skill, and conceptual proposal."

This reflects the ISC's commitment to fostering artistic expression and enhancing the cultural heritage of Baja California Sur.

Contest Categories and Prizes

“Fotosensible 2026” features two distinct categories: “Creative Eye,” aimed at adults, and “Children,” which is open to kids up to 13 years old. In the adult category, two acquisition prizes of 26,000 pesos each will be awarded, along with two honorable mentions of 10,000 pesos each. For the children’s category, prizes include 10,000 pesos for first place, 6,000 pesos for second, and 4,000 pesos for third.

This structure not only encourages participation from a wide age range but also highlights the ISC's dedication to nurturing young talent. As Caballero Gutiérrez noted,

"We want to inspire the next generation of artists and provide them with a platform to express their views through photography."

How to Participate

Artists interested in entering the contest must submit a photograph in a sealed envelope. The envelope should have identification on the outside, while the inside must contain complete personal information and the required documentation. Participants are also required to include a copy of their official identification or a document proving a minimum of three years of residency in the state, along with a duly filled registration form.

The registration form, along with the contest rules and guidelines, can be accessed and downloaded from the ISC's official website: [ISC Website](https://isc.cultura-bcs.gob.mx/). The submission of works can be done either in person or via mail at the Carlos Olachea Art Gallery, located on Antonio Navarro Street in the Jesús Castro Agúndez Cultural Unit. Additionally, submissions can be sent via email to galeriacarlosolachea@gmail.com.

This contest not only serves as a platform for local artists to gain recognition but also enriches the cultural fabric of Baja California Sur. By encouraging creativity and providing financial incentives, the ISC aims to cultivate a vibrant artistic community that reflects the unique perspectives of its residents. As the contest approaches, anticipation builds for the innovative works that will emerge from this initiative.
