Baja California Sur to Launch 165 Universal Health Service Clinics

In a significant move to enhance healthcare access, Baja California Sur will establish 165 clinics under the Universal Health Service (SUS) initiative. This announcement was made during a connection with Mexico's President, Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo, by the state's Governor, Víctor Manuel Castro Cosío. The initiative aims to provide medical services to the population regardless of their insurance status, focusing on both urban and rural areas.

The distribution of these clinics will see 61 located in La Paz, 35 in Los Cabos, 31 in Comondú, 26 in Mulegé, and 7 in Loreto, totaling 160 clinics. Additionally, five more facilities will be directly operated by the Institute of Security and Social Services for State Workers (ISSSTE), bringing the overall count to 165.

Focus on Accessibility

A key aspect of this initiative is its focus on accessibility, particularly in underserved communities. According to the information provided, 89 of the clinics will be situated in rural areas, while 71 will be in urban settings. This strategic placement aims to alleviate the challenges faced by communities that have historically struggled to access medical services.
