Baja California Sur Kicks Off September with Flag Raising Ceremony

A Symbolic Start to the Celebrations

On Tuesday, the government of Baja California Sur officially commenced the patriotic month with a ceremonial flag raising, led by Claudia Elena Meza de la Toba, the acting Secretary General of Government, representing Governor Víctor Manuel Castro Cosío. This event gathered authorities from all three levels of government, alongside representatives from the Legislative and Judicial branches, to honor Mexico's rich history and cultural heritage.

The flag raising ceremony is a traditional event that signifies the beginning of various civic, cultural, and recreational activities scheduled throughout September. Throughout the month of September, numerous events will take place, including the commemoration of the anniversary of the Heroic Act of the Boy Heroes on September 13. This event is particularly significant as it honors the young cadets who defended the Chapultepec Castle during the U.S.-Mexican War in 1847, symbolizing bravery and sacrifice.

Additionally, the traditional Grito de Independencia will be held on the night of September 15, followed by a civic-military parade on September 16. These events are central to Mexico's Independence Day celebrations and are anticipated by families across the region.

"We invite all families in Baja California Sur to participate in these celebrations safely and in harmony,"

Meza de la Toba encouraged, highlighting the importance of community involvement.

Adolfo de la Peña Barrón, the official speaker and Director of International Affairs at the Ministry of Tourism and Economy, also addressed the audience, stressing the need to preserve historical memory. "It is crucial to keep alive the memory of our past, as it defines who we are as a nation today,"

he asserted, underscoring the role of education in fostering respect for national symbols among younger generations.
